Manaia are the kaitiaki (guardian) of the earth, sky, and sea. Worn as a pendant they protect the wearer from harm and are a symbol of status, mana (prestige), and integrity.
This piece was hand carved by Yuki Tanaka from inanga pounamu. It measures 95 x 43mm and has an adjustable hand-plaited cord.
