A koropepe is a traditional Māori design resembling an eel or fish. It symbolises new beginnings, growth, and fertility, and often represents ancestral spirits or guardians.
Koru are the quintessential pattern of Māori design. Taken from the fern frond, are found throughout the forests of Aotearoa, Koru represents the growth, the potential and peace found in the whenua (land). They are gifts of love and friendship.
This piece is carved from beef bone and measures approximately 46 x 39mm.
