Matau Manaia are contemporary forms that personify Tangaroa, the guardian over all living creatures in ngā puna wai (water sources).

This piece was carved and polished with a satin finish and measures 20.5 x 11 cm. It sits on a native timber and brass base and features large, beautiful pāua shell inlaid eyes.
