Hei tiki represent the form of the first human. When worn, they provide a connection to the tūpuna (ancestors) that brought us into this world and guide us forward. Traditionally worn by Māori as ornaments of honour and status, they are a prestigious gift to be handed down as taonga through the generations.
This tiki was carved by Yuki Tanaka from carved from kawakawa pounamu, inlaid with paua shell eyes. It measures 112x 84mm has an adjustable hand-braided tancord.
