Nguru are flutes carved in the natural shape of the whale tooth. They are commonly played by mouth or using the nostrils to produce haunting and melodious tones. They were traditionally played in times of sorrow and remembrance at tangihanga (funerals) or in solitude.
This piece measures 7.5 cm x 3.5 cm
Carved by Conrad Henderson
What you have here is the fossilized resin of the Kauri Tree, a rare piece of history from Kauri Trees long gone.
It’s an amber not a stone so:
A soft cloth can be used as a buffer (Using sideways, not circular motions) to maintain the gum’s original shine.
Treat your piece as a precious gem and it will last forever.
