Deep within the alluvial beds along the West Coast of Te Wai Pounamu, gold and silver is found alongside pounamu. European settlers brought metal-working to Aotearoa, making the combination of precious metals with greenstone naturally complementary and a true fusion of pākehā and Māori cultures.
This pounamu pendant was carved by Samuel Potter from raukaraka pounamu sourced from Marsden of Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa, and was set with sterling silver and 9ct gold and hung by our resident jeweller John Mayo. It measures 41mm by 18mm and comes on a 9ct gold chain.
