Kapeu pendant made from greenstone and bound by a black adjustable wax cord.
Kapeu were historically worn as traditional earrings by both genders and indicate that an individual holds mana (prestige). Kapeu can be further decorated with feathers to enhance their appearance. These taonga were a sign of status, leadership and authority.
This piece was carved by Alex Sands and measures 85 x 9 mm.
