Hei Matau are fish hooks fashioned in the style of Māui. These are symbols of abundance, prosperity, and wealth. They are also considered to provide good luck and safety on water, and are therefore thoughtful gifts for travellers. The shape of the Koru is a symbol for eternal connectedness.
It is hung by a black adjustable hand-braided cord and measures 7 x 5.5 cm.
