Manaia Kokopu - Greenstone Guardian Pendant

Sands Carving Studio

Manaia, a powerful personal guardian in Māori tradition, embodies mana – the concept of power, authority, and prestige. Believed to possess ethereal presence and energy, the manaia protects its wearer and maintains spiritual balance. In Māori cosmology, the manaia is often depicted as a kaitiaki (protector) and messenger between the earthly and spiritual worlds.

This manaia was carved by Jeremy Walsh from kokopu pounamu sourced from Marsden of Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa. It measures 105mm by 48mm, has a matt finish, and is bound with an adjustable hand-braided polyester cord.
