Rei puta are chiefly taonga traditionally carved from the teeth of Tohorā (whale). Rei niho carved from pounamu maintains the beauty of the traditional form, symbolising the intimate connection between Maori and Tohorā.
This piece features a timeless chevron style silver cap and accent and is hung by a sterling silver chain. It measures 7.5 x 2 cm, carved by Alex Sands and crafted by John Mayo.
