This piece is made of pounamu in the shape of a traditional Māori heru comb and measures approximately 85 x 40 mm.
Heru (ornamental combs) were traditionally used by Māori to fasten long hair, which was oiled and sometimes braided, up into topknots.
This piece was hand carved by Paul Anderson
