Wahaika, meaning the mouth of a fish, were close-combat weapons used to bait and engage a foe in close combat. The notched edge of the weapon was used to disarm the enemy.

This wahaika was carved by Alex Sands from kawakawa pounamu.

It measures 31.5 x 8.6 cm and is bound with a hand-plaited cord.
