This gorgeous hand-carved Kauri Pounamu Kumete - Native Timber New Zealand Jade Bowl measures 16 cm in length and 12 cm in width. It features a lovely disc of pounamu with variations of olive green at its centre. The wood was turned by Paul Anderson, the pounamu was hand-carved by Alex Sands, the wood detailing was carved by Raj Irvin.

Kauri are considered a taonga (treasure) by the Māori, who see the health of kauri as a sign of general well being of the ngahere (forest) and people. They are one of the largest and longest-living tree species in the world. It also produces the beautiful and prized Kauri Gum (amber).
