Hei tiki represent the form of the first human and are a remembrance of tūpuna (ancestors) that guide us forward. Hei tiki are a prestigious gift often given at important life milestones or in honour of a significant achievement. They are symbolic of the mana (status) of the wearer and are heirlooms to be passed on down the generations.

This hei tiki is carved from raukaraka pounamu by Arapo Whata. It measures 118 x 49 mm and features beautiful gradient hues of yellow and green. Its eyes are inlaid with notched paua shell.
