The roimata embodies our emotions in times of joy, sadness, celebration and tribulation. Traditionally made from pounamu adzes or similar tools that were too worn down to be functional, they were gifted as a way of remembering the history and tūpuna (ancestors). They remind us of our humanity, and our ability to overcome adversity even when the path is spiritually difficult.

This roimata was carved by Aden Hoglund from a rare inanga pounamu sourced from Arahura of Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa and capped in solid 9ct gold by John Mayo. It measures 65mm by 7mm, has a semi-gloss finish, and is hung on a solid 9ct gold chain.
