This hand-carved Putatara - Shell Trumpet features a whale tooth mouthpiece that has been fitted into the shell for a strong bond and carved with a wheku design.
It is engraved with unaunahi and inlaid with paua eyes. The wood is bound onto the shell using a hand-plaited three-plait decorated with feathers.
It measures 38cm x 14cm and was carved by Alex Sands.
