This sculpture was inspired by Te Matau-a-Māui.
It features an onewa (basalt) shank, a seal jaw at the bend, and an inanga niho at its point. Meticulously carved and handcrafted by Alex Sands, it measures 20 x 10 cm and is set on a native timber and brass base.
