Putatara are instruments made from shells of the triton sea snail. Their oro (sound) were used to herald the arrival of visitors and foes, summons to formal learning, or in preperations of war. This pieces was hand-carved and crafted by Alex Sands and measures 30 x 18 x 10 cm.
