Mau Kakī Kawata me Pounamu - Silver & Greenstone Necklace

Sands Jewellery House

Deep within the alluvial beds along the West Coast of Te Wai Pounamu, gold and silver is found alongside pounamu. European settlers brought metal-working to Aotearoa, making the combination of precious metals with greenstone naturally complementary and a true fusion of pākehā and Māori cultures.

The cabochon was carved by Allen Harnett from kahurangi pounamu sourced from Arahura of Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa, with the sterling silver setting and chain crafted by John Mayo. It measures 83mm by 45mm and comes on a sterling silver chain.
