Deep within the alluvial beds along the West Coast of Te Wai Pounamu, gold and silver is found alongside pounamu. European settlers brought metal-working to Aotearoa, making the combination of precious metals with greenstone naturally complementary and a true fusion of pākehā and Māori cultures.
The cabochon was carved by Hiram Higgins from kahurangi pounamu sourced from Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa, with the sterling silver setting crafted by John Mayo. It measures 81mm by 32mm and comes on a sterling silver chain.
