Koropepe is a style of manaia inspired by mythical tuna (eel) or fish. Combined with the koru, it is a symbol of hope and protection.
It was hand-carved by Jeremy Walsh from blue inanga sourced from Nelson of Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa. It measures roughly 7cm in diameter, inlaid with red wax paua, has a semi-gloss finish, and is bound with an adjustable hand-braided cord.
