This beautiful Pounamu Rei Puta Niho - New Zealand Jade Tooth Pendant was hand carved by Alex Sands and hung by a black adjustable wax cord. This piece measures 111 x 38 x 3 mm.
Rei puta are chiefly taonga traditionally carved from the teeth of Tohorā (whale). Rei niho, carved from pounamu, maintain the beauty of the traditional form, symbolising the intimate connection between Maori and Tohorā.
