Kauri gum is sometimes known as New Zealand amber, it is the fossilized tree sap of the Kauri tree which is the corner stone of the indigenous forests of the upper North Island.

Rei puta are chiefly taonga traditionally carved from the teeth of Tohorā (whale). Rei niho carved from pounamu maintains the beauty of the traditional form, symbolising the intimate connection between Maori and Tohorā.

This piece measures at 70 x 34 x 15mm
