Alex Sands carved this one-of-a-kind large Kikorangi Māpara Aotea Hei Tiki Sculpture. It will come with inlaid with red wax eyes and a native timber base with brass fittings and measures 18 x 9.5 cm.
Hei tiki represents the form of the first human, worn by Māori they are a prestigious gift. Hei tiki is a remembrance of Tupuna (ancestors) that guide us forward. Hei tiki can be seen as ornaments of honour and status.
Aotea stone is rare and found only in South Westland New Zealand. Also known as Hine, the stone is a blend of Kyanite (blue), Fuchsite (green) and Quartz (white) and can often have a glittery appearance.
