This intricate Whale Bone Rei Niho Hei Tiki Mask Pendant features paua shell inlaid eyes and was hand-carved by Alex Sands. It measures 9.1 x3.4 cm and is hangs from a tan adjustable hand braided waxed cord. 

Maori believe the spirit embodies Hei Tiki and all those who wear it. The more it changes in colour- the more highly it is treasured.

Rei puta are chiefly taonga traditionally carved from the teeth of Tohorā (whale). Rei niho carved from pounamu maintains the beauty of the traditional form, symbolising the intimate connection between Maori and Tohorā.
