In the ancient Māori world, the Toki or adze was a vital tool in everyday life. Toki have come to represent the strength and skill of an individual, and the acquisition of knowledge and mana (prestige).
This toki is carved from Totoweka greenstone, Totoweka means "the blood of the weka", and is characterised by red streaks or spots through the stone.
It is hung by a black adjustable hand platted cord.
This piece measures 90 x 31 x 2mm
