Traditional Maori heru are combs worn as functional hair ornaments by both men and women. Often the decorations on pre-European heru were a symbol of mana and prestige.

This Bone Heru - Traditional Maori Hair Comb has been carved from cow bone/beef bone and measures approximately 176 mm L x 37 mm W.
