Manu Inanga - Greenstone Bird Pendant

Sands Carving Studio

Manu (bird) pendants are contemporary representations of the native birds of Aotearoa. Manu are suitable to be gifted to skilled singers, kaikorero (orators) or kaikaranga, or those whose personalities mirror the attributes of a particular bird. Birds are traditionally seen as messengers between the mortal and spiritual realm, and bearers of otherworldly knowledge.

This manu was carved by Yuki Tanaka from inanga pounamu sourced from the Arahura River of Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa. It measures 61mm by 25mm, has a semi-gloss finish, and is bound with an adjustable hand-braided cord.
