Kōauauare a form of flute used in traditional healing ceremonies, in welcoming new life, and escorting departing spirits. The tangi (sound) of the koauau were also known to mimic native manu (birds) and draw in people from further afield.

These pieces measures 14.5 x 2 and 15.5x2 cm and engraved with unaunahi. 

This piece was hand carved by Yuri Terenyi
