This pair of earrings are made from the inner part of the paua shell.
Paua is significant for Māori people, as may be apparent based on the fact that there is no English name. Paua is thought to bring connectivity and harmony to relationships and is also a symbol of change and transition, based on how the shell reflects light.
Mau Taringa earrings are carved in both traditional and contemporary styles. Mau Taringa is a gift for those we care for and remind the wearer of those who gifted them when worn.
This pair measures 67 x 14 x5 mm and was hand made by Stephen Myhre.
