This Rimu Patu - New Zealand Native Timber War Club has been hand-carved from Rimu timber and features a muka coloured braided  wrist tau (cord), grooved designs on the reke (butt) of the handle and sits on a basalt base with brass fittings. This collectible piece has been hand-carved and polished by Alex Sands  It measures approximately 360 X 110 X 24 mm.

The term 'patu' means to strike, hit or subdue in Maori. Patu were regarded as symbols of chieftanship and passed down as heirlooms.
