Marama represent the shape of the moon and symbolises Te Mauri (life force). They are blessed by tohunga through Tohi (ceremony) to transform them to  a mauri stone. Te Mauri would be suspended from their waka, into the ocean, to guide their vessel to their desired destination.

Flower Jade (Raukaraka) is named after the blossom of a Karaka tree.  It is found exclusively in the West Coast of the South Island, NZ.  Flower Jade is usually deep green with beautiful inclusions of yellow and orange.

Our taonga is individually crafted in our Hamilton studio, ensuring every piece is unique.

This piece was hand carved by Jeremy Walsh and measures 55mm in diameter
