Kapeu are traditional earrings worn by both genders and indicate that an individual holds mana (prestige). Kapeu can be further decorated with feathers to enhance their appearance. These taonga were a sign of status, leadership and authority

This taonga was hand-carved by Nikki Shaw from kōkopu pounamu. It measures 53 x 10 x 4mm and has an adjustable hand-plaited cord.
