Manaia are the kaitiaki (guardian) of the earth, sky, and sea. Worn as a pendant they protect the wearer from harm and are a symbol of status, mana (prestige), and integrity.
This taonga was hand carved by Jeremy Walsh from inanga pounamu. It measures 85 x 60mm and has an adjustable hand-plaited cord.
