Alex Sands carved this beautiful Kikorangi Māpara Aotea Hei Tiki and hung by a tan-coloured adjustable wax cord and measures 9 x 6.5 cm.

Hei tiki represents the form of the first human, worn by Māori they are a prestigious gift. Hei tiki is a remembrance of Tupuna (ancestors) that guide us forward. Hei tiki can be seen as ornaments of honour and status.

Aotea stone is rare and found only in South Westland New Zealand.  Also known as Hine, the stone is a blend of Kyanite (blue), Fuchsite (green) and Quartz (white) and can often have a glittery appearance.
