Manu Kawakawa - Greenstone Bird Pendant

Sands Carving Studio

Manu (bird) pendants are contemporary representations of the native birds of Aotearoa. Manu are suitable to be gifted to skilled singers, kaikorero (orators) or kaikaranga, or those whose personalities mirror the attributes of a particular bird. Birds are traditionally seen as messengers between the mortal and spiritual realm, and bearers of otherworldly knowledge.

This manu was carved by Yuki Tanaka from kawakawa pounamu sourced from Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa. It measures 59mm by 31mm, has a matt finish, and is bound with an adjustable hand-braided cord.
