The toki epitomises the artistry and skill of the craftsman, protector and provider. Of great mana (prestige), to wield the toki is to wield strength.
This hei toki was carved by Jeremy Walsh from raukaraka pounamu with whakapapa notches and reliefed manaia, inlaid with paua eyes sourced from Marsden of Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa. It measures 95mm by 35mm, has a semi- gloss finish, and is bound with an adjustable hand-braided cord.
