Manaia Raukaraka - Flower Jade Guardian Pendant

Sands Carving Studio

A personal shield of great power, the manaia is the embodiment of mana - the archetypal Māori measurement of worth, respect, and prestige. Along with its role as a kaitiaki (protector) of earth, sea and sky, manaia are spiritual beings which act as messengers between the earthly world and the spiritual. With ethereal presence and energy, manaia protects the wearer and helps maintain spiritual balance.

This manaia was carved by Dallas Crombie from a piece of raukaraka (flower jade). With a matt finish, the pendant measures 85mm by 25mm and is bound by a hand platted adjustable wax polyester cord.
