Pekapeka are ancient carved forms, and are the representation of the native bat of Aotearoa. It is said that Māui-tikitiki-a-Taranga, the great trickster, would take on the form of the Pekapeka. Worn on special occasion it is carved as a twin mania.

This particular piece has paua inlay eyes and is hung on a black adjustable hand-braided wax cord and measures roughly 67 x 59mm.
