This rei niho parāoa, or rei puta, symbolises the intimate connection between Maori and tohorā (whales). It features kirikiore engraving and whakapapa notches along each side.
This taonga was expertly hand-carved by Alex Sands from parāoa (whale bone). It measures 9.4 x 4.1 cm and has an adjustable hand-braided black cord.
