Rei puta are chiefly taonga traditionally carved from the teeth of Tohorā (whale). Rei niho carved from pounamu maintains the beauty of the traditional form, symbolising the intimate connection between Maori and Tohorā.
This piece was hand carved from by Alex Sands and is notched.
This piece measures: 108 x 48 x 6mm and hangs from a tan adjustable cord.
