In the ancient Māori world, the Toki or adze was a vital tool in everyday life. Toki have come to represent the strength and skill of an individual, and the acquisition of knowledge and mana (prestige). 

A koru has been carved into the side of the Toki.  Koru represent the growth, the potential and peace found in the whenua (land). They are gifts of love and friendship.

This piece was hand carved by Paul Anderson and is hung by a black adjustable hand platted cord.
