Hei tiki represent the form of the first human, worn by Māori they are a prestigious gift. Hei tiki are a remembrance of Tupuna (ancestors) that guide us forward. Hei tiki can be seen as ornaments of honour and status. 

These Hei Tiki are carved from Kawakawa pounamu, inlaid with paua shell eyes and hung with an adjustable black waxed cord.

This piece was carved by Richard Anderson and measures 9.5 x 5 cm. 

Richard Anderson is a New Zealand Master Carver, who’s work is highly sought after and held in private and public collections worldwide.
