Porohita Raukaraka - Greenstone Disc Pendant

Sands Carving Studio

Porohita (circle) symbolise the completion of cycles, a concept reflected in the celestial dance of Tama-nui-te-rā and Hina-te-marama, the sun and the moon. These circular movements across the sky serve as a powerful reminder of the cyclical nature of life. Giving a porohita as a gift expresses a deep desire to have that person at the center of one's world.

This porohita was carved by Jeremy Walsh from a patterned raukaraka pounamu sourced from Marsden of Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa. It measures 61mm in diameter, has a semi-gloss finish, and is bound with an adjustable hand-braided cord.
