Hei matau are fish hooks fashioned in the style of Māui. These are symbols of abundance, prosperity, and wealth. They are also considered to provide good luck and safety on water, and are therefore thoughtful gifts for travellers.

This piece was hand carved by Rob Singer from kawakawa inanga pounamu. It measures 75 x 48 x 5mm and has and adjustable hand-plaited cord.
