A Whale tail is the symbol of the Tohorā (whale).Tohorā are the kaitiaki (guardians) of the realm of Tangaroa (God of the Ocean). In the Maori world, they are an omen of the supernatural and a sign of abundance because of their many offerings even in death.

It is hung by an adjustable hand platted cord. It has been carved and sanded from kawakawa pounamu .

This piece was carved by Jeremy Walsh and measures 37 x 49 x 5mm.
