The toki epitomises the artistry and skill of the craftsman, protector and provider. Of great mana (prestige), to wield the toki is to wield strength.
This piece was hand carved by Yuki Tanaka engraved with unaunahi from aroha stone, (piedamontite schist), which is characterised by beautiful colours ranging from pink to dark purple. The stone contains mica, which gives it a magical shimmer and sparkle. In te reo Māori, the word aroha means “unconditional love”. . It measures 62mm by 30mm, has a semi-gloss finish, and is bound with an adjustable hand-braided cord.
