Matau Manaia are contemporary forms that personify Tangaroa, the guardian over all living creatures in ngā puna wai (water sources).
This piece was carved and polished with a satin finish and measures 18 x 7.5 cm. It sits on a native timber and brass base and features a beautiful pāua shell inlaid eyes. This piece was hand-carved by Mike Matchitt.
